An Algebraic Equation

Whenever I drop or pick Thomas up from my sister Amy's house, I am usually swarmed by the boys telling me about their night or day. Usually it involves what went on at school, something funny that Thomas did, or something they watched on TV. I do love it. I love their enthusiasm but some times it can be overwhelming.

On Wednesdays when I pick up Thomas I usually end up giving Charlie a lift home because he spends the afternoons there while Abby has lessons. So on Wednesday afternoons when I pick Thomas up I am not only swarmed my Matt and John, I'm swarmed my Charlie too.

This past Wednesday I was greeted in "Swarming" fashion by all 3. All 3 were were speaking over eachother, filling in each other's blanks, etc. etc. about some alien program they had just watched. I couldn't tell you for the life of me what they were saying other than I know it was about aliens.

5 minutes later I'm in the car with Charlie and Thomas and Charlie starts asking me if I thought those aliens were "real". "Which aliens?" I asked. (completely forgetting about the "swarming" that had just taken place.) He told me "the ones we were just telling you about!" "Oh yeah............No, I don't believe in aliens Charlie." I told him. And this was his response:

"Well we were watching the aliens on the History Channel. History is real ya know Mary. And since history is real then the aliens must be real because they were on the History Channel."

I had no come back. All I could think of was...............a+c=b+c therefore a=b or something like that. I was stunned that my 5 year old nephew just used a verbal math equation to figure it out!

That Charlie............he's a thinker!

We had a conversation about where is Heaven? Is it in Outer Space? Is it in the clouds? Is God with the Space people? How come the Angels don't fall out of the clouds? OMG~ someone give me an instruction book for these questions, I need a cheat sheet! Fast!
My Hubby likes to watch the History Channel too, but I haven't seen the Alien one yet, so I can't help ya there. :)

Have a great weekend!

Mary, he is a thinker. His thinking makes me tired sometimes, but it really does make him special. Every night, tucking him in to bed, I go to walk out and he say's, "Mum, (long pause)... can we talk about. . . the list goes on and on... sometimes it is aliens, other nights it is heaven... other nights it is lines one peoples faces. . I just love how is mind works. Sorry to go on and on myself. With all the complaining I tend to do, I just love these kids of mine! Thanks Mary for listening to him!

We somehow started calling their cave bed the "bucket." They LOVE their bucket. They spend hours holed up in there regardless of the season. I think little dogs like to burrow and be protected. Fen has spent a lot of time in there cuz she just feels so crappy.

Just in the short time I've "known" you three, I am already blown away by all of these children! I love the way Charlie's mind works; I have twin 8-year-old grandsons and one of them thinks that same way. It is amazing to me, and I never get tired of hearing what they have to say! Every last one of alla y'all's kids seem so special! And they are all so lucky to have each other. As are the three of you! What a great thing, to have family close!

That is too precious. I don't think I would have had a comeback either.
